Need to know about Domain Transfer

    Hello,

    My current domain is good through my other provider through 5/22/2021 but when I go to transfer it to Word Press it says that I will be charged after a year and be charged every year to keep the domain. Is this true and if it is, how can I get around this?

    Hi there,

    Transferring your domain in to us costs us money, no matter how far into the future your domain is already registered. We also charge for the service we provide in letting you host your domain here. So there is no way around this.

    To use your own domain with a site hosted on WordPress.com requires a paid plan, whether you transfer it to us or just point it to us from your current provider. If you transfer it to us, the transfer process will also renew the domain for an additional year.

    Then you will only be charged for a domain renewal the next time the domain has to be renewed, which in this case would be in 2022.
