Need to move from paid Godaddy wordpress hosting to free wordpress

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

We currently use godaddy wordpress hosting with own domain.

We won’t continue with that plan and need to switch to a free one. We understand that it means our domain will lapse and we are ok with switching to a xxxxxx.wordpress.com domain.

How this can be done ?

Currently when we sign in to wordpress.com, it shows we already have a free plan.

    Appreciate any help!

    Thanks.

    Hi EMPL,

We understand that it means our domain will lapse and we are ok with switching to a xxxxxx.wordpress.com domain.

If you wish to continue using your existing domain, it can be connected to your WordPress.com site with domain mapping:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Domain mapping is a feature of all paid plans — Personal, Premium and Business. Each plan includes a credit which can be used to map a domain you already own (or register a new one).

Please be aware that if you choose this option, you will need to continue to renew the domain itself through your current registrar — our plans only include renewal costs for domains registered through WordPress.com.

However, if you don’t want to upgrade, you’re welcome to use the Free plan and address (example.wordpress.com).

Please let me know if you have questions about any part of the process.

    Thanks!
