Need to recover password or create a link. suggestions?
-
I have been in various hospitals for the last two years. During that time my payments for my web hosting (not wordpress, you didn’t exist when I created my site) lapsed. Domain has been sold. Site is ‘trailsinthewoods.wordpress.com I no longer have the password, but the site is still active. Can I get a new password or create a shadow version with links to the present site using a new link, e.g., trailsinthewoodsIII? I am pleased with the material I posted over about ten years and would like to continue using the title and link the material.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
If you still have access to the email address you used for that account you should be able to reset the password using the second link @auxclass provided.
If you no longer have access to that email, or the password reset won’t work, please fill out the Account Recovery Form that @auxclass linked for you first. As you had upgrades on that site, the best verification to use would be a transaction ID. You can find those in the receipts that were emailed to you when you bought the upgrades, or you can contact PayPal directly with your card information, transaction amounts and dates (those will be on your old bank/credit card statements), and they can provide the transaction IDs to you.

Thanks for the additional information.
A. I have been in a series of hospitals for the last four years and during that time I missed a payment to my Web hosting service. The URL has been purchased by another. I do not have access to the old password.
B. I have not had any verifiable transactions with WordPress for the simple reason that the services I have used have all been free. Good news, bad news.
I started the blog in four years ago this month (December). Since then I have had two computers and didn't realize there was a need to keep the startup documentation once the site was up and running.
Any help you can provide to either recover my old email (preferred) or link to the old side with a similar name, e.g., trailsinthewoodsIII.wordpress.com and provide access to the existing site through links would be appreciated.

If you no longer have access to the email address you used for that blog I’m afraid there is nothing else we can do.
We take our users’ account security very seriously, and we cannot make any exceptions with regards to the verification methods required. I cannot even give you information about that account, like the username or email address that owns that site.
If you can remember what email address you used for that blog you can try contacting your email provider for help in regaining access to that email account. Once you have access to that email we might be able to help you, but if not there is no other way to help you regain access to your old WordPress.com account.
However, as the site is still online and public, there is nothing preventing you from linking to it from a new site. To do that, open the old site on whichever post you want to link to, and add that link to the new site like you would any other link.

Thanks for the quick response. Not the news I was hoping for but now I can move on if I can figure out how to do that.
My old page (treesinthewoods.wordpress.com) is now an orphan. I would like to create a new site and link to the old one.
How do I create a new page? Do I still have an “account?”
Thanks.

You can create a new site in the account that you’re logged in as now, with the username hal9007. Click on My Sites in the admin bar at the top, select Switch Site, and click the Add New WordPress link at the bottom. That will take you through the steps for creating a new free site in this account.
