Need to Remove User from our Blog

    I need to remove an employee from our blog that has now quit. When I try to delete this user it tells me I don’t have permission to remove this user. How do I do this?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Is your username account the blog’s owner? You cannot delete the blog’s owner.

    Every blog has a sole owner and it is the person with the username account who registered the blog under that username account and associated email address. That blog’s owner can delete any user.

    If you are not the blog’s owner you need to contact the blog’s owner and have her act on this. You must be logged in as Admin http://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#administrator under the exact same username account that registered the blog and purchased upgrades to renew them or transfer the blogs and the upgrades to another username account.

    To transfer a blog from one username account A to another username account B you must first log in under the username account A that owns the blog you want to transfer to the other username account.

    Then you add the other username account B as an Admin of the blog.

    We just conducted the transfer as per above but we do not have access to the old owner’s email to hit the confirmation link.

    How do we proceed?

    What is the username of the user you want to delete?
    And exactly what is their role on the blog?

    Hi there,

    Since the user NACEAshley is the blog owner, they will need to transfer the blog to another WordPress.com user before they can be removed from the blog. I’m not able to do anything more to help with that transfer until the current blog owner confirms that they would like to transfer the blog to your account.

    NACEAshley no longer works for NACE. Her NACE email ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) no longer exists so that we can confirm the switch via email. Is there a way to have the confirm link sent to our admin email addy?

    The Blog and it’s content is owned by the National Association of Colleges & Employers, not an idividual, and we are trying to update our settings.

    WordPress.com blogs are owned by individual WordPress.com accounts, so we need to have verification that you own the account before we can make any changes to the blog.

    If you have access to log in to the blog owner’s account, you can update the account email address from the account settings page here: https://wordpress.com/settings/account/

    You can use an email address that you have access to, which will allow you to complete the transfer from that account to the new one.

    Alternately, if the current blog owner replies to this thread to confirm the transfer request, I can help with the transfer process.

    I have access and just changed the owner account email to my company email addy to complete the transfer.

    On the NACEAshley account it now says the change is “pending” — are there any other steps i need to take?

    Hi there,

    After you enter a new email address for an account, we send a confirmation email to that new email address. You’ll need to click the link in that confirmation email to complete the email change. (You may need to check your spam/junk folder if you don’t see that email in your inbox.)

    I attempted 3 times to change the email, receiving the confirmation email that you speak of each time. After every click on the confirmation link, the email address has still not changed for the naceashley account.

    Hi there,

    I’m sorry for the trouble with that. You may need to copy the confirmation link, log in to the naceashley account, and paste the link into your browser to get that work.

    Alternately, if the blog owner (naceashley) replies to this thread to confirm the transfer request, I can take care of that for you.

    I am logged into the naceashley account but can not retrieve any email from the original naceashley email addy.

    I just attempted to cancel and reassign the naceashley email to our webmaster account email. Logged out of her blog account. Copy/Pasted the link into a totally different browser. Logged in as naceashley. Still says in red that the change is pending.

    Can you please try logging in as naceashley first, and then copy/pasting the link into the same browser where you’re logged in to the account?
