Need to upload a site that i had built by someone else

    Hello
    I have a site that someone else built for me and they told me it was built with wordpress, i would like to import this to wordpress to get it online and they messed me around a bit and now i have not website active, you please help me.
    I have a zip file from them but am not sure how to upload

    Hi there,

    it sounds like the person that built you that created a “self-hosted WordPress site” which are sites that you create on a traditional web host like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc.

    It is possible to take that kind of WordPress site and save the contents as a .zip file, to move to another provider. However, that kind of file is meant to be used to move the site to another traditional web host. We do not have the ability to work with your .zip file due to the nature of our cloud-based service.

    It is possible to set your WordPress site up on another provider however. W recommend the following providers, who all offer easy-to-use wizards to help you get your first WordPress site set up and running:

    That said, most major web hosting providers will work, so you can just ask if the one you are interested in supports WordPress. Also be sure to let them know about your situation and the fact that you have your site source files in .zip format to confirm they are able to work with that.
