New block editor pop-up

Please, how can I remove new block editor pop-up which only goes away if I decide to try and stay with it – which I won’t because I am quite satisfied with classic one.
This pop up persistently stands upon Tags section which is impossible to edit because of it. I would just like your help with removal of this pop-up item which prevents me from fully editing my posts.
    Thank you very much!

  • Hi –

There’s three dots ... in the upper right corner of the post and page editing screen. Click on those dots, a menu will drop down, look for switch to classic editor at the bottom of that menu. This is how you’ll go back and forth between the 2 editors, or just stick with the classic one. Whichever your preference is.

Write back with more questions. Happy to help!

Thanks for the reply, however, as I’ve said – it does not work.
The moment I switch back to classic editor – that little node-popup comes back and stays: “Try the new block editor and level up your layout”… It stays directly over open Tags section which cannot be edited then. Neither can I remove it.
    Persistent little bugger…

  • Hi there,

I’m not aware of any pop-up message that hides the tags area. Can you please grab a screenshot and share it here so I can have a look? For quickly grabbing a screenshot you can use a program like https://snag.gy/

    Here’s the screenshot:

Now, this is from Firefox (yes, it is not perfectly uptodate, but that is not the point). In Opera browser this little “Try it out” node or window-element (sometimes) moves down with opening of options (Categories, Sharing… etc), it moves below opened option. In (my) Firefox it does not, it stays as screenshot shows.
Now, in any case, I have never had problems with editing my WP posts. The thing is, once the user had familiarised him or her self with the new Block editing possibility, and decided not to use it and / or revert to Classic – this node should not even be there any more (be it stationary as in my Firefox or getting out of the way by moving bellow as in Opera).
If You are part of WP Staff, maybe in the next update you could try and remove it completely.
    Thank you very much! :-)

  • Hi there,

The prompt to try the block editor cannot be removed, and we don’t have any plans to make it possible to dismiss it.

But it also should not obscure the editor sidebar like indicated in your screen shot. That prompt is not a pop-up, but is inserted at the very bottom of the sidebar as part of the sidebar itself. Using Firefox it stays there for me no matter which options in the sidebar I expand. The fact that it’s not working like that for you points to a possible browser problem on your end, especially as it only happens in Firefox.

Please try disabling all your browser add-ons in Firefox and see if the prompt correctly appears below the sidebar in that case. If that works, re-enable your add-ons one at a time to narrow down which one is causing the issue.
