New blog

I want to create a new wordpress blog and once I have it all populated and looking how I want it to look, then I want to transfer my existing domain name to the new blog. Before I transfer the name, though, I want to have the existing blog to still exist with a login, etc, so I can go in at different time and see/use the posts/information I have there. What’s the process for all of this? How do I setup a dummy site that I can edit/setup then transfer a domain name to while still being self-hosted?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi @havefunlearningsite, no problem.

You can start your site, and make it private if you’d like:
    http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

That way you have to log in to see it.

Then you can add a plan when you’re ready, then (no rush!) map the domain and point it here when everything is finished. Does that make sense?

Please note too, once you have a paid plan, you’ll have access to live chat support, so that can be really helpful even if you aren’t ready to point your domain here yet.
