New Domain is not working
-
Hi there,
About an hour ago I bought a domain name to change my website from ‘jpjournalismcom.wordpress.com’ to ‘jpjournalism.com.’ However, when it was purchased it said that it will take up to 30 minutes for it to start working but it is still not working.
If I type in jpjournalism.com, it still directs me to my website but as soon as the website loads up, the domain name changes to jpjournalismcom.wordpress.com in the search bar.
Can anybody help me with this and when will my new domain become active?
Thank you,
JackThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Jack,
I can confirm that your domain is registered and active on your site.
If I type in jpjournalism.com, it still directs me to my website but as soon as the website loads up, the domain name changes to jpjournalismcom.wordpress.com in the search bar.
This is what’s supposed to happen. But it sounds like you want your site to load at the domain rather than being redirected, correct? To do that, you’ll need to set the domain as the primary address on your site, but that requires an upgrade to a paid plan:
https://wordpress.com/support/domains/register-domain/#setting-the-primary-domain
Without a paid plan you can still use your own domain, but it will redirect to the free address, so that’s what people will see in their browsers.

Hi,
Thank you for your support.
Does that mean if I type ‘jpjournalism.com’, the domain name once loaded just changes? Also, I recently set up a Twitter account to post my articles, and I embedded a tweet onto my homepage.
Is there a way to embed my whole Twitter account instead of just one tweet?
Thanks again,

Yes, when you type jpjournalism.com it will change to ‘jpjournalismcom.wordpress.com. The way to avoid this is to purchase WordPress.com paid plan and set jpjournalism.com as the primary domain as kokkieh mentions above.

Just to clarify, are you wanting every tweet to appear as an individual blog post? Or would a Twitter timeline “widget” work?

My apologies, I forgot that we replaced the Twitter Widget with the functionality in the Twitter Block.
Please see here for how you can embed a whole twitter feed into a post or a page:

Take a look and let us know if anything is unclear or you have any further questions.

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. When I go to edit the block, it says to press on this pencil to edit. However, I have a different icon that shows up and not the one on the guide so I am unable to embed a feed.
Any help on this would be great,
Thanks,
Jack -
Can you share a screenshot of the icon you are seeing? Here are screenshot instructions if you are not familiar:
