New domain – Zoho MX record reset?

  • Unknown's avatar

After an initial domain name and associated Zoho mail setup, I registered a new domain which is what I actually want to use. I went back through the steps for Zoho setup, etc; created a new user name there with the new domain name and made it my primary email address. Zoho shows a “good” (green) status but I can’t receive email there at all. I can send, but not receive. Zoho support says I don’t have an MX Record that points to domain.zoho.com. Apparently, I need to get a new MX code and go through setup via WP again. I am getting quite frustrated so I would appreciate some detailed assistance. I’ve looked everywhere on WP Support and Forums but am not finding anything germane to this problem. Does something need to be deleted and start fresh? Please, come back with some quality help. Since I can’t receive at (email visible only to moderators and staff) (zoho) please reply to (email visible only to moderators and staff)

    Thank you,
    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

Each domain that you own has a completely separate set of DNS records (including MX records). That means the records you set up for your first domain aren’t used for your second domain.

I checked your two domains, and I see that jefferyallen.me has a CNAME record for Zoho but no MX records. You can view and manage those records under Store > My Domains in your dashboard. Next to the domain name jefferyallen.me, you can click the Edit Domain button and then click the Edit DNS tab in the window that pops up.

To finish setting up that domain to work with Zoho, you’ll need to add the two MX records mentioned in steps 8 and 9 in this guide: Add Email through Zoho Mail

If you have any further questions or run into trouble with that, please let me know. I’d be happy to help you add those records for your domain if you need.

Rachel, thanks… that worked. It took a while to test due to the Zoho “lag” but I finally did receive test replies. Also, I was confused in thinking I needed to re-verify with Zoho but realized it was not required. So, thank you for your good and prompt help.
