New Site

Hi. I purchased the full site named Daily News and it’s not showing up. The only sites showing are the initial Daily News that I looked at prior to buying and another – and I’m unable to delete these and commence work on my newly purchased Daily News. Please can anyone help. Regards

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What is the URL of the site you refer to?

Hi timethief. many thanks for responding.

The URL is http://www.thatfrgttnyousite.wordpress.com. I upgraded and bought a site from WordPress but this new site is not even displaying in my sites – to complicate matters even further, I transferred the domain name from Go Daddy (www.thatfrgttnyousite.com) and when using that URL shows a completely different wordpress site altogether.

    Confused to say the least.

    Hi there,

I can see two sites in your account: thatfrgttnyousite.wordpress.com and thatfrgttnyousitecom.wordpress.com.

I upgraded and bought a site from WordPress but this new site is not even displaying in my sites

Can you confirm which site URL you are unable to see in My Sites? Is it one of the ones I mentioned above?

I transferred the domain name from Go Daddy (www.thatfrgttnyousite.com)

thatfrgttnyousite.com is showing as registered with GoDaddy. Did you want to use this domain on your WordPress.com site?

Let me know and we’ll go from there.

    Thanks!

Hi Gemma, thank you for responding so quickly.

Essentially what I would like is for the domain name: http://www.thatfrgttnyousite.com to be the domain for the premium Daily News template which I bought from WordPress. At the moment I cannot see it in my sites; however there is a free copy of the Daily News template which I do not want and there is also another free site which I do not want – and to complicate matters even further, when I put http://www.thatfrgttnyousite.com into a web browser it displays a different site altogether

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide

    Hi there,

Essentially what I would like is for the domain name: http://www.thatfrgttnyousite.com to be the domain for the premium Daily News template which I bought from WordPress.

There are no themes called Daily News on your account. You’ve purchased the DailyMag theme for thatfrgttnyousite.wordpress.com.

The domain thatfrgttnyousite.com is currently pointing to a self hosted WordPress.org site, not a WordPress.com site — which is why you are unable to see it in your account. The differences between the two are explained here:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

The Daily News theme is for use with self hosted WordPress.org sites.

You won’t be able to log in to that site using this account (scribes1964). There is a separate login here:

    http://thatfrgttnyousite.com/wp-admin/

thatfrgttnyousite.com was registered with GoDaddy so you will need to contact them if you want to make any changes.

    I hope that helps!

Thank you for the reply – at least now I know what I’m confused about! So, basically, the next question, if you can help, is how would I transfer The DailyMag website over to wordpress.com, which is essentially what I’m wanting to do. I didn’t realize the difference between the two WordPress sites and would prefer to remain with WordPress.com

    Again, thank you in advance

    Hi again

I’ve also had a look on the thatfrgttnyousite.wordpress.com and it is only displaying the free for life version of the Daily Mag (which I tried before buying) – there are no purchased items there, so I’m also unable to cancel it

As above, thank you for any help

    Hi there,

how would I transfer The DailyMag website over to wordpress.com

We have a guide which explains the process of moving from WordPress.org to WordPress.com:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/

The Daily News theme is not compatible with WordPress.com, so you won’t be able to use it on your site.

If you want to use your domain (thatfrgttnyousite.com), you can ‘map’ it with Domain Mapping:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan, such as the Personal plan. Each paid plan includes a free domain credit which you can use to map a domain you already own (or register a new one).

it is only displaying the free for life version of the Daily Mag (which I tried before buying) – there are no purchased items there, so I’m also unable to cancel it

You paid a one-off cost for the DailyMag theme (which is why it never expires). If you no longer need this theme I can remove it from your account. You’re also within the 30 day refund period so I can refund the cost in full. Just let me know what you would like to do.

I’m happy to answer any questions you have!

    Hi again

First thing: sorry for such a delay in my responding! A genuine apology.

Thank you (yet again) for taking the time and having the patience to respond to someone who is a definite novice. I’ve managed to get my head around what I’m trying to do now. Finally.

    Thank you again.
