New to blogs

I am new and want to create a blog with all the bells and whistle. Which theme shall I chose? I would like it to index it in all serach engines, has rss feed capability i.e. when folks read it, they can easily subscribe to it. Thanks. Melanie

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think every blog on WordPress already has rss built in.
As to themes, I suggest Blix, Freshy, and Pressrow. I like them. But we all have different taste, so you pick any theme you like best.
If you can code, purchase the css upgrade, and beautify your blog.

Yes, all blogs have a RSS feed.
For example, my feed for my blog is http://dark2light.wordpress.com/feed/ and the feed for my comments is http://dark2light.wordpress.com/comments/feed/
As for themes, I like Cutline and use it on my teaching blog. My photoblog uses Monotone. My personal blog uses Rounded. A lot depends on your preferences on looks, number of columns, etc.

text widget for rss feed icon : either of these is not working:
http://whatskeepingmeupatnight.wordpress.com/feed or http://whatskeepingmeupatnight.wordpress.com/feed/

We need a link to your blog to check it out. In the meantime, take a look at this FAQ http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/put-your-feed-in-your-sidebar/

Sorry – I’m on my first cup of coffee :( I see the text on your blog. The feeds are working fine in a feed reader when I click on the link in your post. They are not clickable on your blog. Please refer to the FAQ I mentioned above.

I did this and now it is showing as an x
<img src=”image-location” />Also is this the same command for ‘subscribe to comments”
Where does the posts get indexed on my blog? http:// whatskeepingmeupatnight.wordpress.com

Image location refers to the actual url of the image you are trying to use. You have to have that information.
