  Hi everyone i am new to wordpress and i am looking at moving over from Wix. I have a couple of newbie questions.

  1. Do i need to get a hosting package from somewhere?
  2. I want to see how easy it is to use WordPress before moving so can i use 5starcruises.wordpress.com as my domain to see how it all goes/looks

  Hi Jennifer

  Thanks for all of that. I was wondering with the free package on wordpress.com do u get ftp settings or can u upload files to the site as i want to migrate my existing sites on wix to see how they look. I can do this without uploading a file to the root directory?

  No upgrade on WPcom will give you FTP access, the ability to install 3rd party plugins or upload your own theme.

  OT/Just out of curiosity, has something changed on Wix that you are now able to export your Wix site? It certainly wasn’t possible in the past.
