New to WordPress, could use some advice please

As you can tell from the title, I’m new to WordPress. In the past I’ve utilized the Joomla CMS. It has proven to be quite robust, but a little hard to tinker with. I have a new project that I am working on, and Joomla simply wont work, its too complicated. I had a friend recommend to me WordPress, so I installed it and started playing with it. So far I love what I see, but theres always a but. Theres always something that needs to be tinkered with, thus, heres my dilemma. I want to post game reviews, each post will be a different game, each game will fit in one of five categories. WordPress will work, however, I want to add some 500 game reviews, and it doesn’t exactly format the best.
The front page ends up being a mile long, and there is no way to just simply view the title of the posts. All and all while the system is almost perfect by default, its just unorganized. I’ve seen there is a large community dedicated to creating extensions to WordPress. So, this leads me to my question…
Can anyone recommend an extension module, for me to better organize 500 or some posts between the 5 categories?
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced for your help.

Hello and welcome. You’re in the wrong place for self-hosted installs. If you go to http:/wordpress.org you will find tabbed links to both the help forums and the homepage for plugins (marked ‘extend’). And you’re right, there are many, many extensions available.
