Newbie advice please for website redirection.
-
Hi,
I am looking to set up a basic website and blog for my personal training. I have registered a domain address with GoDaddy and would like to use WordPress to build the site.
Now GoDaddy offer a WordPress Hosting package at a monthly cost but I was wondering if I could just build my site through WordPress and then have my domain redirected to the WordPress site. I would like to also keep my domain name in the address bar, is this called masking or something?
Really I wanted to know if this is the right way to go about things, would you use GoDaddy’s WordPress hosting or if there is a better way.
Any advice or tips would be hugely appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Just to add, I was advised to use WordPress because it would be easy to build a simple website and with the added feature of being a blog it can be easily found in search engines. If this is the case is it best to start with the free version or upgrade so it looks like a more professional website.
Thanks again.

Since we don’t know what you need from your site, it’s hard to say. I suggest you start with the free version to practice, buy a custom domain and maybe the No Ads upgrade and then just tinker with it for a month or so. That will tell you if you need an externally hosted solution like GoDaddy, where you are responsible for all security and tech support, or if WP.com will be fine.
You can take the domain with you when/if you ever leave. I recommend getting it because any business looks more professional with a custom URL, and it’s not expensive.
