Newby query

I have been asked to create a website by my employer
They have agreed to splash out on a Professional version of WordPress – to allow the use of plugins
However, I am unsure whether the Professional version is only required to “build” the site in the first place ?
ie) After 12 months – if we convert to the “FREE” version of WordPress – will the plugins become inoperable ?

You’ve reached the support forum for free sites hosted at WordPress.com. Here only the Business plan allows the use of your own plugins and there isn’t a “Professional” plan. Not renewing the Business plan and downgrading to free would mean the loss of any plugins you’d installed. There is a Professional Jetpack plugin for sites hosted elsewhere and using the WordPress.org software. Perhaps you are mixing up the two different types of WordPress?

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    I meant “business plan”
    Same question though
Will we lose any of the functionality of our website – if we convert to “free” after building it on a “business plan” ?
