  I created a WordPress.com account about three hours ago and selected a free theme to give it a try. Then things got confusing real fast and I didn’t get anywhere setting up even a simple page. In the end I wanted to delete the theme and choose a different them. Now not only can I not choose a new theme but the free domain that I chose seems to be inaccessible.

  How can I choose a new theme with the same domain name? To clarify, this is not a domain name that I register elsewhere, but a [some name I choose].wordpress.com .

  This account ayeehk doesn’t have a website. I would say your missing site was made under another account. what is the URL of that missing site?
