Newsletter Pop-Up in Previews

    Howdy folks, in the support guide on Newsletter Settings https://wordpress.com/support/newsletter-settings/ it says:

    Please note that the pop-up will not display on pages or custom post types, and it will not display if any of the following conditions are true:

    • If you or an administrator is viewing a post while logged in.

    I’m not sure if this includes Previews or not, but between the Cookies and Consent banner and the Newsletter Pop-up, I can barely see my post Preview. Having to dismiss them both each time is a, forgive me, huge PITA.

    The Newsletter Pop-up appears both in the full Preview in my browser as well as in the “View” and “Preview” overlay. The Cookie banner appears only in the full Preview.

    Yes, I know that subscribing to my own site is one solution, and for a time I did, but this shouldn’t be necessary.

    Firefox v119.0 (64-bit) on Win10Pro PC

    Thanks @justjennifer! I’m not sure whether the change is intentional or not: folks would complain that their popups were not working, for example. But if it is intentional it should be dismissible at least. I’ll share this feedback with the newsletters team & let you know what we find.

    Thanks for reporting it.

    Here’s the thing. I regularly dump my browser cache and cookies, so if this is a browser cookie, it won’t help me. Sounds like I’ll need to go back to subscribing to my own site in order to get rid of this.

    I guess I can’t even do that now. The Newsletter Pop-up in Preview no longer shows the box to add an email address. Was this intentional?

    I’ve just read a comment on a blog I follow where they mentioned that the email box in the actual newsletter popup is missing, and not just in the preview.

    I still see the Pop-up overlay when viewing posts while logged in as the site owner. And while the email address box now appears, it looks different than it was before. Previously it was all on one line with the Subscribe button on the right.

    Update: It appears that this only happens when viewing the full post in the web browser. If I view it in the “view/preview” modal from within the dashboard, the subscription pop-up no longer appears.
