No styling on new installation

I am installing WordPress on an Archlinux server which sits in a DMZ behind the internet-facing server.
I do not have a fixed IP, so I use NO-IP to provide the redirection of the domain to the internet-facing server, this runs Apache and forwards the virtual host to the WordPress server.

Installation went fine, but there is no styling either on the 5-Minute Install page, nor on the test homepage, nor on the login page, and login always fails.

I have searched for help, but get no clues anywhere.
The Archlinux wiki cryptically says that a proxy server is required, but I have no idea what this means in practice. Where to put it, for instance.

    Any pointer would be appreciated.

The blog I need help with is NOT orthodoxcumbria.wordpress.com. It is a new installation.

I have posted this on the wrong forum. Please ignore. I can’t find the delete button.

What you’ve described is the open source WordPress installation. Help for that comes through your hosting provider or via https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

At WordPress.com we offer a managed hosting environment which is quite different from your set up.

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org
