Not all ratings are being displayed on blog posts?

Hi, I am having trouble seeing ratings on my blog posts.
The Rating option for blog posts are already enabled and is set as the Nero Rating style. It also looks like the Ratings are sometimes working but other times I receive notifications that someone has “Liked” my post but when I check the post there are 0 ratings.

I clicked like on one of my posts earlier today, and saw the count for the “like” go from o to 1. Later in the day, I had a friend, who is not a wordpress user, test out the ratings on a post today and he was able to click like. I didn’t get an email for this vote though. When i went back to the same post, the rating was still at 1 instead of at least 2 at that point. I tried refreshing the page just to make sure it’s getting an updated count, but it was still at 1. Not sure where these missing votes/ratings are going.

    Please advice.

  • Likes and Ratings are entirely separate.

The Likes you’re receiving a notice for are only available to WordPress.com users, and you can see this like button below each post on the single post views.

Macmanx, Thanks for your reply. I see what you are taking about. Make more sense now.
Question on the Ratings…Are Ratings available to everyone? And does it just keep a running count of all the votes (regardless of if they are from a wp user or not)?

  • Yes, that is correct. Ratings are available to all readers and keeps a running count of all votes.
