Not my site!
-
This site, english301bookblog from @90schicks301, is not my site! I have my own, maddybakeslv.com through the same email. I don’t remember ever getting an email to start this blog, thankfully it’s free so I don’t think I was charged. Should I just delete the site since it’s through my personal email? It doesn’t look like they’ve posted since 2015.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
The site shows that it was created by your user account 4 years ago. However, go ahead and delete it if you are not using it. You can find instructions for doing so here:
-
This may not matter in your case, but I do like to mention…
Please bear in mind that once deleted, that site’s WordPress.com URL will become permanently unavailable for future use. If you feel that you might need that URL again in the future, you might want to choose one of the other options listed on the the page linked above.
Please let me know if you have further questions or if anything is unclear.

I won’t ever need the url later, I’ll just delete it. I never created it. Is it possible for someone else to use a random email (this time it was mine) to start a WordPress blog?
I just don’t even know how this would have happened! It makes me nervous to think what they had access to. -
No, if you weren’t the one who created the site 4 years ago, it would have to of been someone with access to your account here (including username and password).
-
That’s the other odd part, I just created my first WordPress account/site a month ago. I didn’t have a login previously. I found out about this new site when I tried to login to my new account and it directed me here when I did the “sign in with email link” because my username and password wasn’t working! I clicked the link sent to my personal email and it directed me to the English301bookblog.
-
The account you’re logged into right now was created 4 years ago as well, and the email address on this account has never changed.
New accounts require confirmation via an activation email, so either you did create this account 4 years ago, or someone with access to your email did.
-
I’m on theirs.. I didn’t know if it would help solve the problem if I posted it from here.
I didn’t create this one, sorry for the confusion!
Weird either way! I’m going to delete this site. -
You can close the account following this guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/close-account/
-
Last question, I’m sorry! If I delete the account I didn’t create, @90schicks301, it won’t delete my actual one… right? They’re linked to the same email but not the same account/name.
-
We only allow one account per email address, so please elaborate on this other account. What is the URL of the site on that account?
-
My real url is maddybakeslv.com, I just launched it last week but I’ve had the domain for about a month.
-
I just checked and in the settings for my maddybakeslv site it shows the same email, (email visible only to moderators and staff)
-
That’s because that is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, which we really can’t help with here. It’s not hosted on WordPress.com, but rather it’s hosted with Bluehost.
To clear up any confusion, WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two different entities: https://support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
So, closing your WordPress.com account will not affect that site.
