  I have a hosting instance that I want to use to build our new wordpress site. Should I enter that site address as the ‘domain’ name at account set up? I will map it to our true domain later.

  Double check which version of WordPress you plan to use. What we do here at WordPress.com is a managed hosting environment, so you wouldn’t need that separate hosting instance.
