Not wanting to link back to my blog when commenting in others

  Is there a way to NOT link back to my wordpress blog when I leave comment in other peoples blogs? There are occasions that I DO NOT want to link my comments (associated only by my email address also used) to my own blog. I recently left a comment on another blog (which is currently awaiting moderation) and I did NOT know it would link back to this blog. How do I make that not happen? Thanks!

  Hi. If you only your name not to link to your blog on an occasional basis only, the easiest way is simply to log out of WordPress.com BEFORE leaving your comment. You are then free to enter your details just like a non-WP.com user would. You are then free to not enter your website.

  If you want the change to be permanent, go to Users > Personal Settings and delete the contents of the Website box, then Save changes.

  Thank you so much!! Now, do you have any idea if that will change the already-linked comments? Take the one I posted earlier today, for example. It is still pending moderation. When approved, do you know if it will still be linked because I did not change the setting? Will that blog author and all readers be able to see it? Just curious if there is a way to change that? Thanks so much for your reply!

  Any change you do to your profile will only affect future comments:
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/personal-settings/#account-details
  Only the blog owner can change comments already posted on their blog.

  Since your website is no longer linked to your username, please remember to provide us with the URL of your blog (starting with http://) if you have further technical questions about your blog.

  Remember, however, that if you have a Gravatar and you use the same email as the gravatar to leave comment, the gravatar will show up on Gravatar-enabled websites. If anonymity is your goal, get a different or fake email for those occasions.

  Okay, so even if I was NOT signed into my WordPress account at the time, will it still link to my website? I was using gravatar, but have hidden my profile. What I had done was to just comment with my name and my email address. When I saw the comment posted (still pending moderation) I could click on my name, and it brought me to my website. Now, though, I have closed that window, so am unable to see the comment pending moderation. So, I have no idea if (since I hid the profile/gravatar) it will still be linked when they do get around to moderating it. I guess time will tell??

  It won’t link to your website, but it will, under normal circumstances, pull up your avatar.
