Notifying Followers of updated Posts on Static Home Page

    Hello All,

    I have a new Blog that I decided to add Posts to on the Home Page just for simplicity on my part. Learning to work with WordPress has me confused about Post Pages. So I noted at the top in my Introduction for people to scroll down to the bottom of my Home Page to see my latest Posts.

    Now I need to be sure I get Followers & they are updated when I make future Posts to my Home Page.

    Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I do not want to mess up what I’ve done so far.

    Hi,

    The easiest way for readers to be notified of new posts on your site is for them to “follow”your blog:

    https://wordpress.com/support/following/

    They can do so with a WordPress.com account and using the WordPress.com Reader:

    https://wordpress.com/support/reader/

    …or, if they do not have or want a WordPress.com account, they can subscribe via email.

    Hello RootJosh,

    I appreciate your reply. Apparently just adding updates down my Homepage won’t update anyone. So I’ll give it a shot to create a Page in my Blog when I need to make updates to my Timeline. Although it may be a while, I’ll have stuff to post sometime this year as time goes by.

    I guess the only way to see what happens is if I do it and if I have any issues, I’ll let you know.

    Hi John,

    Just to avoid any confusion, have a look at this page about the differences between pages and posts:

    https://wordpress.com/support/post-vs-page/.

    Pages are meant to be static – like a Contact page or About Me.
    Your subscribers will only be notified of new posts.

    Hello Fresatomica,

    This is so far the best clarification between Pages & Posts. Especially the explanation of Blocks and the Category Names of Blocks for allowing separate Posts on the Same Page.

    This is what I need to do when I add further Timeline in my Blog.

    Eventually I’ll need to add more of my “Timeline” & I’ll give it it shot when I do.
