Obtaining a Site URL

  Hello

  I am trying to obtain a new site URL but WordPress is telling me it’s already in use.

  I go to the URL and it says “codyproffitt.wordpress.com is no longer available.
  The authors have deleted this blog.”

  Is there anyway I can take control of this URL since it was deleted?

  I’m sorry but there is no recycling of deleted blog URLs here at WordPress.com. This prevents the scenario of someone impersonating the blogger who originally had the deleted URL after they deleted it.

  Confirm by reading http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/ and
  http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/

  You can register another blog with a similar name. http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/

  Or you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade and it will not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is.
