Office 365 & WordPress

    Hi

    We have our own domain and set up Office 365, we recently decided to create a initial web site with WordPress.

    My question is:

    How do i set up the DNS fields in the Domain area of Office 265 to point the web page to WordPress? I already created the CNAME entry but it doesn’t appear to work.

    WordPress: set our domain as Primary
    Domain: Registered / managed @ names.com
    NameServers: @ names.com, point to bdm.microsoftonline.com
    DNS Entry: @ Office 365 Domain, added CNAME

    Hi there,

    Do you want to create the site with us on WordPress.com, or using the open source version of WordPress?

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    If you want to use WordPress.com, first you’ll need to create a site at https://wordpress.com/start/site/. You’ll need to add one of our paid plans, and then add the domain mapping upgrade to connect the domain to your site on our end.

    On Office 365’s end you’ll need to change the name servers or the IP address of the domain to point it to us. You cannot do this using a CNAME, as CNAMEs can only be used to point a subdomain like blog.example.com to us, not a root domain like example.com.

    If you have email set up on the domain you can then add the required DNS records for Office 365 email with us, though we also have a one-click option that should add those for you automatically once you have the mapping set up with us.
