Offline website design

  Hello! I just created a wp account and want to build my website offline before I’ll add that to my already owned domain name (I currently have a website hosted by godaddy.com, which I intend, again, to update with wp and probably get a different hosting website). Can I work on the new website design offline? Thank you very much.

  Hi there,

  That is not an issue – what you could do is create a site with a free WordPress.com blog address. You are assigned a .wordpress.com or a .home.blog subdomain whenever you create a site with WordPress.com, so you can just use that as the domain as you build the site and determine whether or not this is the platform you want to use.

  You can edit your site offline and here are some options that you can use:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/xml-rpc/

  You can also set your site to private while working on it. That way, it’s online, but not accessible to the public.

  Once you are developing the site, you can make the decision to transfer the domain over:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  map and existing domain:

  https://en.support.wordpress.com/register-domain/
