Old site still showing on google search

    Hi, I used to have a free site on wordpress.com, but later i switched to self hosted site and it has been running for years. However, when you type my name on google, both the old site and self hosted site shows up. Please how do I ensure that the old site do not show up anymore? The information there is old and also some of my old posts are showing. The new site contains more recent and updated posts.

    Hi there!

    To make sure the old site does not show up in search engines, you’ll want to either discourage them from indexing your site (as explained here) or delete your site altogether:

    https://wordpress.com/support/delete-site/.

    Any of those actions will require you to access the account where you created the site, though.

    Hi thanks for your response. Yes I checked the Privacy but there is nothing there. It only shows Usage information and DPA. No place for changing the privacy of the site.
    Another thing, when I click on sites it says I don’t have any sites. When I click on account settings it shows the web address of my new site. Yet the old site is showing up on Google. Any deleting my site would mean deleting the new site.
    I used to have an old website on the free website platform, but now i have a hosted site but my information on the old site is still showing up on google. The main issue now is that I cannot even sign in to wordpress (both COM and ORG). I can sign in to my hosting cpanel and to my website wordpress admin page, but when i click on support it asks me to sign in again and my wordpress website login details doesnt work there. I try to reset and it doesnt even recognise my email addresses, yet both my wordpress websites are active. This is very strange. I have contacted bluehost but they said i have to contact wordpress since this is directly an issue with wordpress.
