old site/new site

  I am a total greenhorn to WordPress- I started to set up my site, and when I went to chose the name, it was already taken. The thing is, I actually chose the name and registered it back in 2011, but then forgot my password. SO, I actually have the name I want for my site, and can’t access it, and now I have this new site that I do not want to work on, because I want to build the old one….. How can I transfer the name of my site I can’t access? (I know, I know….luddite)

  And what is the URL that you lost and want? Have you gone through the “lost password” procedure, etc?

  I did go through the lost password process and it did not help, however I think one of the things I did wrong was that I should have entered the name of the site, rather than my name at the prompt. I do not even remember from 2011 whether or not that was how I set it up. I did it via GoDaddy where I have my own domain name.
