Old website name still showing in some places, including e-mails
-
I recently migrated my WordPress.org blog from a private server run by a friend to Bluehost. However, I am having a problem that seems to be Jetpack/wordpress.com related. After I migrated the blog, I changed its name from “Great are the Works of the Lord” to “Whatever is True.”
Everything is working fine, except the old name of the blog is still appearing in two places. Most importantly, when my subscribers receive e-mails notifying them of new posts, the old name still appears in the e-mails.
Also, this blog shows up on my WordPress.com account with the old name. When I try to change the name in “Settings” on wordpress.com, it looks changed. However, when I log out and log back in, it has reverted back to the old name.
I have screen shots to show you what I see.
When I log in to wordpress.com and go to the Settings, I see:

Note that the name in the “Site Title” box and the title at the upper left are already different.
Then, I change the name in the Site Title box and save. This looks like I have changed the title as I need: https://oceanmoonrise.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Name_Issue2.png
However, if I close that tab and then log back in, I see that the situation has reverted to where I started: https://oceanmoonrise.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Name_Issue3.png
How can I fix these erroneous old name appearances?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello there,
Many thanks for reaching back out.
I can see that the site title is currently set to “Whatever is true” – is this the intended site Title?
Please note the site is not hosted with WordPress.com and so our support may be limited in places.

Thank you for replying so quickly. The intended title is “Whatever is True.”
However, my subscriber e-mails still show the old name, and the old title remains in the wordpress.com sidebar (upper left of https://oceanmoonrise.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/Name_Issue3.png )
Thanks,
Luke

Hey there Luke,
Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting Jetpack to see if that fixes the issue? To potentially pinpoint this as Jetpack related, let’s try that first and see if that solves the issue:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/disconnect-jetpack-sites/
Follow the steps above and let me know if you run into any issues.
Thanks!

Thank you darnelldibbles, that worked! It is amazing how many problems can be solved by turning it off and on again.
