One of our wordpress sites is now automatically redirecting to https:// instead of http://

  We recently noticed that one of our wordpress.com hosted sites is now directing to https:// instead of http://
  Previously http:// worked. However now it automatically redirects to https:// for the front end of the site (not just the admin.) We do not wish to use https:// and we did not change any DNS settings. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

  All WordPress.com sites, including those with custom domains, are moving to the secure HTTPS protocol. You can read more about this here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/https/

  Is there a specific reason why you do not wish to do so?

  Thanks so much for your response. We are using scripts on another site to crawl our blog content so that it can be included in our search results on the other website. The script cannot crawl https://. So if there is a way to turn off the https redirect on the blog that would be great.

  To the best of my knowledge, it’s not possible to turn off HTTPS here.

  It works with my custom domain, right now.
