Online purchases

Hi, I wonder if you could help. I have a ebook available for purchase on my site and I had added a payment option to it. But I want to know 3 things.

    1. I am based in South Africa and I want to have the price in Rands (ZAR) how do I go about doing that?
    2. After a client has purchased the ebook can they download it themselves after purchase, if not how do I go about setting that up that it can be downloaded after purchase without me having to send it to them.
    3. Does this pay pal option also allow for south african banking cards to be accepted?

and I am on the premium plan. I look forward to hearing back from you.
    Kind regards

  • Hi there,

    Is this for https://trainlikesaint.com/?

The Pay with PayPal button you added there works via PayPal, and while you can use PayPal to send and receive payments in South Africa, PayPal does not support payments in South African Rand. There’s also no way to withdraw funds received in a PayPal account to a South African bank account, so this perhaps isn’t the best option for you.

The one alternative I can suggest that will work here is to use Zapper. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a service where you can generate a QR code which you place on your site, then people can scan that code with the Zapper app to pay, and you get a notification via email and SMS. The other option is SnapScan offered by Standard Bank, which operates on the same principle.

The drawback is it would require people to install and link their credit card to the app before they can buy, and is more manual than the PayPal button as you’d need to then offer an option like a contact form to let people “place their order” as well, but at least it will allow you to accept payments in Rand.

    2. After a client has purchased the ebook can they download it themselves after purchase, if not how do I go about setting that up that it can be downloaded after purchase without me having to send it to them.

The payment button is all manual – it’s just a way to easily receive payments via your site, nothing more.

To have it work the way you want, you’ll need to use a ecommerce plugin like WooCommerce instead. That requires our Business Plan, but that would also allow you to add the PayFast payment gateway plugin, which is a South African payment processor. PayFast supports EFT and card payments for all the major banks in SA, along with Zapper and a few other services.

Let me know if you have more questions about this.
