Online Store With Multiple Distributors

    I want to open an online store and be able to send orders to multiple different vendors for distribution. How do I do this? Can I do this easily/out of the box?

    Hi there!

    On WordPress.com, you’ll need the WordPress.com Business plan or higher to use a plugin like WooCommerce that adds an online store to your site. Then, you’ll need to use a WooCommerce extension to add multivendor marketplace capabilities to your site.

    The WooCommerce blog has some instructions on how to create a multivendor marketplace. But you can look for third-party alternatives as well to add the multivendor marketplace features.

    Basically, while all of this is possible, I wouldn’t call it out-of-the-box as there’s a fair bit of configuration needed. If you host your site on WordPress.com and use first-party extensions (like Product Vendors), you’ll receive support from WooCommerce for help with configuring things (we’ll provide support, but you’ll need to do the actual configuration and setting up).

    You can hire a freelancer to help you with this or you can look at our Built by WordPress.com program if you have a higher budget for your site (where we will build the site for you).
