I have this odd message in my Reader but can’t find out what site it’s referring to because there’s nothing to click on. There’s no link. As far as I know I’m a ‘member’ of the few sites I follow that are private, so it’s a big mystery.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi,
Most likely you clicked follow buttons on various sites, not knowing that this action would make you a follower of the site. If the site is private, then that only complicates the matter. If these are not sites you intentionally chose to follow, or want to remain a follower of, then you might as well unfollow them. That can be done at the Manage Followed Sites page.
From the How to unfollow blogs if you’re a WordPress.com user section of the Following Blogs support page:
First, make sure you’re logged in. Then visit the site you want to Unfollow and click the button that says Following in the bottom right-hand corner. You can also click Edit List in your Reader to display the list of blogs you follow. Find the blog you no longer wish to follow, then click the green word Following next to the name of the site to stop receiving notifications of new posts from that blog.

Hi, @musicdoc1
Thank you for your input!
I’ve been a member since 2007 and, over the years, have maintained several public sites here with lots of traffic. Now, however, I have a private site and follow only a handful of other sites. I never even visit any others.
The first thing I did when I saw that message was to go to those sites to see if I could see all of their most recent posts and I could. What puzzled me most about the message was that there was nothing to click on, no way to tell what it referred to.
But the good news is that it’s gone today.

Oh, great! If it occurs again, you might want to return here and add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar to call for staff attention. I’ve never encountered this issue before and don’t know what might have caused what you’ve described.
I also suggest you look at the Manage Followed Sites page, and delete any that look unfamiliar to you, or that you do not want to follow.

Great idea about the “modlook” tag. Thank you!
I did look at my Manage Followed Sites page as soon as I saw the message. It’s a very short list and, with the exception of the <ahref=”https://wordpress.com/read/feeds/25823″>WordPress.com News all the members are long-time friends of mine, so it was easy to verify that everything was OK there – no unknown follows.

You’re welcome. : )
Note: The link you provided in the last post goes to a support forum topic. I don’t think that came from your Manage Followed Sites list. -
The name of the link was correct but the URL itself wasn’t. I posted the wrong one. Here is the one that ought to be there – along with its site title – which I copied (and pasted) directly from my Manage Followed Sites page:
