option to fast forward is gained by importing using URL rather than shortcode

video quality drops when I import with URL rather than shortcode but I need the capacity to fast forward through video which I don’t have with embedded shortcode.
shortcode good video quality but cannot step video forward
URL poor video quality but can step video forward
I need to maintain both quality and step through option.

    Hi there,

Can you send me a link to the video you’re adding? For example, if it’s a YouTube video you can use the shortcode to start it at a particular time as mentioned here: YouTube

If you’re adding the video from a different service (other than YouTube) I can take a look to see what options you have for that service.

    Hello Rachel
Thank you for your response but I have resolved the problem. The .ogv file is of lower quality and is the format of the complete URL that is given by video press. The short code was only causing me problems because I wasn’t allowing the video to buffer before trying to move forward through it. I can’t believe how stupid this sounds but I had another video which appeared to be stepping forward without having to wait for buffering. Thanks again for your interest.

    Hi Jeff,

Thanks for updating me on the situation! I’m glad that allowing the video to buffer resolves the issue you were experiencing. If there’s anything more I can do to help, please let me know. :)
