what happens if i order a plan (personal) than want to upgrade to Premium or greater? also, I mean if I ordered multiple years…how does that effect my new order? I get double billed? or cart shows discount of e.g. current plan selection minus Personal?

I dont understand what happens after the 7 days of free biz plan? what if I dont want biz plan, what if i want free or personal? does that mean i wasted my time importing my site from external wp site and they delete or force biz plan? suddenly plugins and themes dont work? wp.com not clear on this at all..

In other words, you can try the import for free and if it works and you are happy with it, you can continue with the Business plan

You can upgrade from one plan to the next anytime by paying the difference between the cost of the plans. For example, if you upgrade to the Premium plan for $96 (USD) and then immediately upgrade to the Business plan, you’ll pay ($300 minus $96) $204. So you will not get double-charged for upgrading from one plan to the next.
If you upgrade later, our system will take into account the remaining period in your current plan, so you aren’t double-charged.

When you import your site using our plugin, it will be imported exactly as it is, including all the plugins and custom themes you have on your current site. However, please note that these themes and plugins will only work if you continue with our Business plan.
If you are interested in using a different WordPress.com plan, don’t worry! You still have the option to migrate your site content to a different plan. This means that you can transfer all your posts, pages, and other content to a new plan while leaving behind the custom themes and plugins that require the Business plan.
There are several ways to go about this:
- You can create an entirely new site and migrate the content only by following this guide.
- You can also revert the site to a free plan first. This deletes all plugins and custom themes, but we can keep the posts and pages. This works on a case-by-case basis, so you’ll need to let us know if you’d like to do that, and we can look at your site and let you know the best way to proceed.

ok well on one site i imported and got biz trial the 7 days have ended and it reverted to blank site – nothing from import. it is in quarantine / backup “for 30 days”. So how do I know what it ends up looking like under free or Personal

immediately VS later is different though?
To clarify what my colleague meant, the difference can be specified if you upgrade immediately because what you paid that day would be subtracted from the plan upgrade price.
If you upgrade later, the difference to upgrade would be prorated based on how much time you have left on your plan. Without knowing when you would upgrade, we can’t precisely advise what the upgrade would cost. Rest assured, what you have already paid would be applied to the upgrade cost no matter when you upgrade.
