Our domain registration was cancelled with no warning. Contact email?

  We had purchased a domain name through wordpress.com which was set to auto renew and did so in the past. Without our knowledge, the domain was not renewed in the last period. No warning was sent to us and we didn’t know we had to take any action. It has now been purchased by a third party who doesn’t have any public credentials to reach out to. I’d like to find out why the domain was not auto renewed, but can’t contact support directly because we no longer have any paid add ons. Is there a support contact email we can write to? We are very disappointed. Thanks.
