Own a domain name. WordPress says the name is already taken and won't let me use

Own a domain name. WordPress says the name is already taken and won’t let me use it. I’m so frustrated. I’ve been trying to do this since Friday and have not gotten any help from WordPress in spite of the many emails I’ve sent. The reply that I did get did not address the problem. I need help. I was supposed to have this site up today. The domain that I purchased from GoDaddy is http://www.typewon.net. WordPress will not let me start a new blog with that name. What am I supposed to do?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please, don’t let ANOTHER day go by without help for this problems. I’ve been trying to get ahold of someone and get this fixed since friday.

Hi Holly,
I see that Kris, Drew and Elizabeth have replied to you regarding this matter in forums and via Live Chat. Here’s Drew’s reply here:
Please respond to him from there if you have any further questions. I will be closing all your other threads.

If you want to use https://typewon.wordpress.com/ – it is in use – if you don’t own it you are out of luck or you need to get the owner to transfer it to you. But since you want to domain map a custom domain name – the base blog name does not really matter much
-
I own it…ok, so how do I set up a new blog and have it show as http://www.typewon.net? This is such a simple thing that I’ve asked about twenty times.
-
I had the same problem I just go another domain name that is available. You will still be able to use it with wordpress, you just have to redue everything in a wordpress.org fomat.
-
Map the domain name to the base blog – make sure you are logged into the right blog $13.-/yr

All I’m trying to do is to be able to use the domain name (that I bought from GoDaddy) and start up a new blog. People are getting frustrated because they are following that link from the Facebook page (www.typewon.net) and they are getting my http://www.writingstraight.com site. Is there no way to do this so that I can start up a new blog with that name or however or whatever I need to do so that when someone clicks on that link http://www.typewon.net, they get to that new blog? I don’t understand why I can’t get some help in this. I’ve explained what I need to do so many times and no one gives me an answer that answers my question or helps me get this done. I simply don’t know what to do and am at my wits end.
-
Everyone just gives me directions to start up a new blog, but I can’t because the name I put in there, http://www.typewon.net is not accepted. BUT, when I go to my domains, it is there.

rockinelderfoundation, you said: I had the same problem I just go another domain name that is available. You will still be able to use it with wordpress, you just have to redue everything in a wordpress.org fomat. If I use a different domain name, how does that help me use the domain name that I paid for and I don’t know what that means by redue everything in wordpress.org format?
-
If someone can do this for me or give me steps to do this, I will gladly pay for it. I’m so frustrated. WordPress is so NOT helpful. I’ve been trying since Friday to get help.
-
Also, I did the mapping, Auxclass…and it now links the blog to my other blog, so if someone types in http://www.typewon.net, they get to my other site. http://www.writingstraight.com. How in the world do I separate them and get this other blog up and going?
-
Holly,
typewon.net is not mapped to any WordPress.com site. Which WordPress.com site do you want it mapped to? Provide me the URL and I can give you the link to add the domain mapping.
-
Sorry for the trouble! I think there was just some confusion about exactly which blog you wanted the typewon.net domain mapped to. I attempted to fix it and replied to you in the other thread with details.
-
I don’t really know what mapped means. I want to create a new blog with the http://www.typewon.net name. That’s all.
-
Grace, I don’t know what that means. As I said, I just need to start a new blog with the name http://www.typewon.net (purchased from GoDaddy). Can this be done? When I type that name in to start the new blog, it won’t let me do it. Sorry, but I have a publisher waiting on me to get this link working before they send the book to pub. It’s REALLY important to get this done. It was supposed to be done today.

Here is what you need to know.
Register a whatever.wordpress.com blog. The underlying URL does not matter; it only shows when someone looks at the filename of an image, it’s not normally visible. Then, from the dashboard of that blog, you buy the Domain Mapping upgrade. That is the upgrade that connects your custom domain to your whatever.wordpress.com blog.
-
Ok, when I go to “my site” it shows typewon.net is there? Very simply, how do I begin using this blog. There is no entry point?
