Own domain name & no adds

    I have the free plan for my blog with wordpress. However, I would like to remove ads that wordpress puts on my blog. I am also interested in having my own domain name. In order to remove ads do I have to buy the ‘personal plan’ at $4 monthly to get my own domain and remove ads? OR can I just purchase my own ‘.com’ for $18 and will that remove ads since I now own my blog?

    Hi there,

    You can remove ads from your site with any of our paid plans, so you can use the Personal Plan for this. The plan will also include a free custom domain for the first year, with the domain renewal costing extra from next year onwards.

    Adding a custom domain to a site requires a paid plan. Once you have a plan on a site you can add additional domains at a per-domain cost, but you have to upgrade to a paid plan first.

    Could I buy rights to a personal domain from another source and then purchase the paid plan so I don’t have the domain name renewal costs imbedded into my personal plan?

    You can, but then you’ll have to pay the domain provider where you bought the domain for its annual renewal. So you’ll be paying for the domain’s renewal every year, regardless of where you register it.

    If you register it as part of the plan with us, at least the first year will be free.
