Owned domain transfer after creation of WP site?

    Hi,
    Can our company first create the WP e-commerce site first and then have the domain we currrently own after the WP site is created?
    We do not want to import the content, we only want to transfer the domain from the current provider to WP post making our new webpage and then connect it to already known URL.

    I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

    When you sign up for a new site, we give you a free subdomain (*.wordpress.com) that you can use to start building your new site.
