Ownership and Authorship
-
Hello,
I was wondering whether I could use a blog post of mine for an application process to schools in the US. I am worried about plagiarism (even though the content is mine) because the post was made on a third-party website. May I please request further information on the matter? Can you please direct me towards the guideline of such a topic?
Thank you!

Hi there,
It’s impossible to plagiarise yourself. Where you published the content doesn’t make any difference to the fact that you wrote it. Plagiarism is when you use content created by someone else, and try to pass it off as your own.
That said, WordPress.com does not claim any ownership of content you create on our platform. You own your WordPress.com site and any and all content you create on that site. By hosting your site with us you give us the right to use that content, for example by displaying it in the WordPress.com Reader or featuring it on our Discover blog, but its yours, if someone re-uses it without your permission on our service we’ll help you get it taken down, and you can move it away from us at any time.
You can see our terms of service for more information in this regard.
