Owning Domain

Hi there,
I currently have a website with another company but want to switch to you guys, mine is awful! I have started setting up my page with you but I am wondering how I go about keeping my domain name from the other co.? Not sure if they own it or if this is even something you can tell on your end? Just want to find this out before I call and cancel my service with them. My current website is joannadavidson.ca (don’t judge!!) Please advise.

If you wish to continue using joannadavidson.ca, it’s best not to cancel the domain with your current provider as this means you will lose ownership.
We don’t currently support incoming transfers for .ca domains but joannadavidson.ca can be connected to joannadavidsonrealestate.wordpress.com with domain mapping:

The domain will remain registered with your current provider and renewed through them each year — the cost you pay us will only cover domain mapping (and features included in the plan you choose) not renewal of the domain itself.
It would be worth speaking to your website company to see whether they can provide an .xml file of content. If so, you can try importing it using the WordPress importer mentioned here:

It looks like the domain was registered through GoDaddy but I’m unable to tell whether it was registered in your name or the company name.
