Page layout

I selected one of the premade layout thinking I haven’t updated my layout in some years let me addd some color and it literally just pasted exactly what I selected. You couldn’t see any off my posts and I couldn’t customize or undone what I had done. I selected blank thinking my work was underneath or something. It was literally blank and I couldn’t start from scratch there either. My work dates back to 2014 or so. I’d hate to lose all of that. I’m really not trying to do anything extraordinary just pretty colors. Eye catching.

  • Hi there,

None of your content is lost. All your posts and pages are still on your site, and you can access them in the dashboard under My Site ->Posts and My Site ->Pages.

I see you switched from Independent Publisher to Sigler. When you did that, you selected the option to enable the theme’s default front page. Doing that caused your existing front page to be set to draft, as you can’t have two front pages on a site.

Then you switched to Blank Canvas, and again opted to use the theme’s front page (which in Blank Canvas’s case is a completely blank page), setting the Sigler front page to draft as well. I can see both your original front page, titled “About” and the Sigler front page as draft pages in your site’s pages list at My Site ->Pages.

To fix this, go to My Site ->Pages and republish your About page. Then go to My Site ->Appearance ->Customize ->Homepage settings, and set it as your front page again.

Then switch to the theme you want, this time not picking the option to use the theme’s default layout. This way the theme’s design will be applied to your site, but without the theme creating a new demo frontpage to replace the existing one.

Let us know if you run into any trouble with this.
