page still coming up under wordpress after paying for .com url

  Hello,

  I created a blog last night using wordpress and it was fantastic. Only problem is that I paid the $17 to create a .com url and this has not been activated. Does this take time? Or is there something else I need to do? Once this has been activated will people be able to google my page name and find me that way?
