    Hi,

Each item in the custom menu should have a link URL that takes one to the correct page. The Photos menu item links to the post https://kbfciq.wordpress.com/2016/10/12/167/, not to a page.

Also, each item in a custom menu must be added “manually.” There is presently no link to the page title “Photos,” which has the URL https://kbfciq.wordpress.com/photos/.

See the Custom Menus support page for helpful instructions on adding menu items, editing menus, etc.

I notice also that none of the sub-menu items under “Blog” are linked to the appropriate category pages. For example, I presume you’ll want the “Political Science” menu item to link to the “Political Science” category page, https://kbfciq.wordpress.com/category/political-science/.

So how can I get the Photos menu to link to a page. How do I link it in general? Allow I watched the video & the setup is different because of the theme i chosen.

    Hi,

First, let me point out that your “Photos” page is a child of your “A Little About Me” page, as is evident from looking at its URL: https://kbfciq.wordpress.com/about/photos/. That’s OK, but you might want to create a new page without that relationship.

So how can I get the Photos menu to link to a page. How do I link it in general?

I’ll answer the second question first, then the first. In general, you add menu items as described in the Additional Menu Items section of the Custom Menus support page. To add a menu item that links to a page, follow the same instructions (in the “Additional Menu Items” section), choosing the Page type. When you click on the Page type, to the right you should see a list of all of your pages to choose from. Choose the page “Photos.” Then click the Add Item button. When this is added it automatically link to the page.

Doing as I’ve suggested above, however, will leave you with two “Photos” menus items. I would delete the first one. In fact you could do that before adding the new one. Alternatively, you could edit the link URL of the present “Photos” menu item.

Frankly, the instructions in the Custom Menus support page are a long way from being easy to follow, and I find them incomplete as well. If you have further trouble with this you may add a “modlook” tag to the sidebar to call for staff attention.

Allow I watched the video & the setup is different because of the theme i chosen.

The Menus page will be the same, and the instructions in the Custom Menus support page, including the video at the top of the support page, are applicable regardless of the theme. Not sure which video you’re referring to.

Regarding the menu items under “Blog” in the menu. I’d suggest that you delete these for now, because the links aren’t made correctly. Most of the categories have yet to be assigned to any posts. The items should link to category pages, which don’t exist until you’ve assigned each category to at least one post.

Once you’ve deleted them, begin adding them again using the “Category” type at the Menus page. However, presently you have only three post categories assigned to one or more posts. They are “Political Science,” “Critical Thinking,” and the default category “Uncategorized.” Each of these has an automatically generated category page:
