pages and posts
-
I’ve somehow made a mess of things even though I only have three pages. My first blog entry is the middle one of them along the header. My second blog entry has gone onto my homepage, pushing down the text I’d intended as a static landing page. So now I have two blogs in two places rather than them both as a chain. What can I do please? I’ve not used wordpress before

Hi there, looking at your site (200miles…) it seems like you’ve published pages as blog posts rather than adding your posts to a Posts page.
Pages hold static information, like an About Me page or a Contact page or a general introduction/landing page to your site.
Posts, on the other hand (or foot), are arranged in a reverse chronological order so anyone visiting your blog page will see the most recent entry first.
This support guide explains a bit further https://wordpress.com/support/post-vs-page/
If you want your site to display your most recent posts on the front of your site, you need to first publish an empty page with a title like Blog or Journal and then set that page as your homepage in the Customizer>Homepage Settings https://wordpress.com/support/customizer/#homepage-settings The WP software will automatically display your published posts on that page.
It’s possible that you already have a Blog page in your MySite>Pages dashboard, so check there first.
If you want to display a static/landing page as your site’s home page, you’ll set that up in the same place in the Customizer>Homepage Settings, but in order to have your blog posts display on a separate page, you’ll need to choose which static Page should be your site’s homepage and which page will display your blog posts.
After you’ve set up the pages in the Customizer, unfortunately there’s no way to go back and republish a page as a post; you’ll need to copy/paste the entries from their pages into a new blog Post and then publish them.
Since it looks like you are fairly new to WPcom (welcome!) you might want to work your way through the tutorial at https://wordpress.com/learn
Post back here if you have more questions.
