Paid for domain url but not showing up in dashboard
-
Hello,
I paid for a domain name a few days ago, received a receipt in my email but that domain is not showing up in my dashboard. The only one that’s showing up is the .wordpress.com version. Any help? Not sure if I’m just missing something.
thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Go back into the domain mapping and make sure your new domain name is selected as the “primary.” See #3 in this support document.

My domain name is not there to select. Only the .wordpress.com version is there and it’s selected. There are no other choices listed.

This is the site here that is associated with the new domain name: upproductions.wordpress.com/ . Is that the one you wanted the new domain name on?

I bought the domain name, upproductions.org through WordPress at the same time when I signed up for that blog here. I don’t want to use upproductions.wordpress.com as my domain, I only want to use upproductions.org.
I guess I’m not doing a good job of explaining my problem, possibly because I don’t understand what the problem really is other than my domain upproductions.org is not showing up in my dashboard. When I type the url into the address bar of my browser, it automatically goes to upproductions.wordpress.com
Again, I bought the url/domain upproductions.org through WordPress when I signed up for a blog here at WordPress. I got an email receipt from WordPress saying I’d spent money for the domain (I even paid extra for the privacy option.) In my dashboard, upproductions.wordpress.com is selected as the primary blog, and upproductions.org is not listed at all.
Let me also say thank you very much for taking time to respond to me. I appreciate your patience.

You have to have the domain mapping upgrade to make your site here appear under your purchased domain name. Since your domain name does not appear at settings > domain, that means it has not been mapped.
Follow #2 and down in this support document to map the domain to your site here: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-existing-domain/ .

Okay, that seems to have worked. upproductions.org now shows up and stays in the address bar instead of redirecting to upproductions.wordpress.com. Though I’m still not sure why upproductions.wordpress.com shows up in my dashboard and upproductions.org does not. Is this how it’s supposed to be?
Thanks for your help and your patience.

The URL when you are in the dashboard will always reflect the original wordpress.com URL since all of the dashboard stuff has to have absolute URLs. As far as the public is concerned though they will see the .ORG domain name you purchased.
One note though: All URLs to uploaded files (images, etc.) will show the original wordpress.com URL. Again this is because the links to those files have to be absolute and they are still located in your account area on the wordpress.com system.
