Password Problem
-
I am trying to reset my password using the strong password generator, exactly as described. I click on save, it says it is saving. Then the page resets itself with the old, weak password still there. To make things worse, that old password that is showing up does not even work when I try to use it to log in. I had to be sent a login link to get into my account. So I have no idea what my password is, and I cannot reset it either.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Are you trying to set a new password for your WordPress.com account, or for the admin account on your site, http://averagejoecyclist.com/? The two are not the same.
If you’re speaking of the WordPress.com account, I can see several password changes in the logs. It’s possible the password did update correctly, but it just didn’t refresh correctly in your browser. Please try clearing your browser cache, then set a password again. Then log out and try to log back in with the password you’d just set to confirm that it saved correctly.
The admin password on your site is stored directly in that site’s database, and we have no access to or control over it. If that password is not updating, it’s an issue with the software on your site. For help with that you can ask in https://wordpress.org/support/

Hi Kokkieh
I was speaking of the WordPress.com account.
You were right – the password WAS in fact updating, but it was not refreshing properly in the browser. So it was giving me the illusion that it was only remembering the old password. I just went to a different browser and used the newest password to log in, and it worked :)
Thanks very much for your help.
Joe
