Paying for chargeback fine

  • Unknown's avatar

On our website lifesciencescareerday.com a former member of our committee refunded the charge for the subscription. I want to enable posting on the site again by paying the chargeback fine and the new subscription, because i got this message: Warning: One or more transactions linked to this site were refunded due to a contested charge. This may have happened because of a chargeback by the credit card holder or a PayPal investigation. Each contested charge carries a fine. To resolve the issue and re-enable posting, please pay for the chargeback fine.

The problem is that when I want to checkout for the order and select iDeal (or Paypal) it gives me the message: setting up your iDeal payment. After that nothing happens. I am unable to pay in any way, and therefore am unable to use my website. Is there any other way that I can pay?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi lifesciencescareerday,

The problem is that when I want to checkout for the order and select iDeal (or Paypal) it gives me the message: setting up your iDeal payment.

So we look into this further, it would be great if you could make a screenshot of the page with the error message and upload it to your Media Library — there’s no need to share a link to the screenshot here (as it may contain personal information), we’ll be able to find it.

It sounds like this could be a Javascript error so please try the following:

    1. Go to the checkout page on WordPress.com.
    2. In Chrome, go to View > Developer > Javascript Console (or More Tools)
    3. Click the Console tab.
    4. Try to pay using the same method.
    5. Make a screenshot of any errors displayed in the Console box at the bottom of the browser.

This should help us pinpoint exactly what is causing the error.

    Thanks!

    Hi Gemmacevans,

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I can’t upload anything to media due to an error message. I think the cause of this is the fact that I need to pay the fine first. I will post the error in the console tab here. I don’t think this will contain any personal information.

    I hope this is useful.

Great, thanks! I’ve passed the screenshot on to our payments team so they can take a closer look. I’ll be in touch again as soon as we know more :)

    Hi lifesciencescareerday,

I just wanted to drop in and let you know I haven’t forgotten you are waiting — our payments team are still looking into the cause of the issue.

    Thanks for bearing with us.

    Hi gemmacevans,

Can you give me an update? The event for which the website is, is in a few weeks and the website has to be online now! Without this the event will fail.

Please make sure this will be fixed as soon as possible.

If it helps to call/chat, please let me know. I’m a bit desperate.

It worked a moment ago with creditcard. So for now the problem is solved.

  • Hi there,

It looks like you just tried to pay the chargeback fee again, and it went through, so your site is no longer locked. As you’ve also bought a new plan for the site I was able to restore your domain, so everything should be working again.

It looks like the original payment failure is still being investigated. I apologise that this was taking so long.
