Paying to use a paid theme you’ve already downloaded

    I’ve had an expensive theme from Envato I’ve used for ages without getting a paid Business WP plan (I have neeeever had this before). The website has gone missing and I’m trying to upload the theme and recreate it from scratch – but now I must spend $300 (I don’t have) for a business account to use the theme I already use??

    I know WP says you MUST do this – but why have I never done it before?

    Hi there,

    You’re posting in the forums of the hosting provider, WordPress.com. Using third party themes like the one you’ve bought from Envato, has only been possible on WordPress.com since May 2017, and has always required our Business Plan.

    If you’ve been using an Envato theme on a WordPress site, you’ve been using the open source WordPress.org software at another hosting provider. That software is not the same thing as WordPress.com

    If that website has gone missing, you need to contact the hosting provider you’ve been paying to host that site for you, as only they have the ability to help you recover/restore that site.
