Permalink and Blog Issues

    Been spending hours trying to get my posts to show up on my blog page. They look great when i make them – When I post them, a brief explanation of the blog shows up on the home page – Even has a ‘Read more’ link – If you click on read more it will show the blog and again it looks great. If you click on blog in the top menu – There is nothing on the blog page except the placeholder ‘My BLOG – Just another WordPress Site’

    I had permalinks set to ‘Post name’ – I was told somewhere online that I should change permalink setting to ‘plain’ and refresh website. That finally worked. I also saw opinions that the plain permalink is not good for SEO, but I was willing to live with it b/c the site looked great – I was putting final touches on and installed WP Super Cache – Super Cache wouldn’t work b/c it said I needed the custom permalink for it to operate – Now I can’t get any posts to show up on my blog page regardless of what Permalink I try!

    PLEASE HELP – Ready to throw computer out the window!

    Based on what you have said, the WordPress plugin “WP Super Cache” has caused some problems with your WordPress site. “WP Super Cache” is a plugin that is used on self-hosted WordPress sites. Plugins are not supported on websites hosted here at WordPress.com. In order to get better support and answers to your questions, I recommend you continue your support case at the WordPress.org forum dedicated to the plugin “WP Super Cache”.     Thanks so much for your response. Maybe I can back up – Do you know why my blog might not be showing up when I have “post name” option selected under permalinks?

    Hi there @hous14, although you haven’t shared your site address with us, the best place to ask a question and get support for sites using the open source WordPress software would be over at the forums or documentation on the ORG site where users are more experienced with the type of issue you are having.     Just to clarify one point in @kennethkobz reply for anyone else who may find this thread:

    Plugins are not supported on websites hosted here at WordPress.com.

    Users whose sites are on the WordPressdotcom Business plan can install their own plugins, as explained in this support guide: https://en.support.wordpress.com/business-plan/

    Thank you @justjennifer for the additional clarification.

    With the exception of the WordPress.com Business Plan, plug-ins are not supported here at WordPress.com. In addition, questions and discussion in regards to self-hosted sites, should be directed to the WordPress.ORG forums.

    Hi @justjennifer! THanks for getting back to me – I appreciate the advice – When I go to wordpress.org it says I can’t post until I register – When I try to register it tells me “Please enter your username or email address. You will receive a link to create a new password via email.” When I click it does not send me anything! Yikes! I have the correct email 0 not sure what;s going on – Just looking for some help!

    @hous14, you might need to check any spam or junk folders in your email account. If you are still having problems, you should verify your email address and settings are correct, or use temporarily use a different email account.

    Hi again,

    I do appreciate you both getting back to me, @kennethkobx and @justjennifer. This is CRAZY to me!!!!!! I can log onto WP.com with no problem…I cannot log onto WP.org…I ask them to send me a new password and nothing gets sent…nothing in my inbox…nothing in my junk mail…I try to create a new account thinking that maybe I never started an account for WP.org and it says that my username is already being used as is my email – That leads me to believe that I do have a WP.org account but it will not send me any link no matter how hard I try!

    I am going in circles with my WP site and now I am going in circles trying to leave a message to get help for my WP site – WHY SO COMPLICATED???????????????????

    ANy help you can give will be much appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Howdy-

    I can log onto WP.com with no problem…I cannot log onto WP.org

    Do you have a previously established WordPress.org user account? It is not the same as what you’re using to sign in to WordPress.com. These are 2 different login accounts.
